Website design with detail at its heart.
Frances Healy is a well-respected interior designer based in the Tamar Valley. She has over 30 years’ experience bringing colour and character to function-conscious spaces for a range of different style properties, from boathouses to hotels. From the outset, it was clear that colour, layout, and the user experience mattered deeply to Frances. Her website needed to reflect her client’s experiences, not just in aesthetics, but in tone and structure. This wasn’t just about building a site. It was about building an online space that was unmistakably, Frances Healy.
Frances came to us with a clear vision: a beautifully styled portfolio-led website that felt more like a luxury magazine than a brochure. She wanted something that would do justice to her work, generate leads, and offer a confident and aspirational first impression. Though, most importantly, she didn’t want to intimidate everyday people away from interior design with an exclusive style and lavishness on every page. Finding the balance between a stylish design and a personal and approachable space was a must. From the way her story was told, to how each image sat on the page, every design choice was scrutinised and reflected upon. To make sure we got that balance right before the build, we provided Frances with design concepts so she could pick the style that aligned closely with her vision. This provided the necessary foundation to work and improve upon, while remining true to the initial intended vision.
What followed was an incredibly rewarding collaboration. Working closely with Frances meant we could go deep into the details right down to the effect of colour pairs, how a font sits in harmony with the style and personal taste, even the spacing between images. The build was a balance between visual beauty and digital functionality. Frances, personally weighed heavily on the design side, while we kept the website functional and within her creative vision. Her attention to detail was inspiring, and her design sensibility sharp, if there was a visual flaw, Frances could spot it. Our role was to translate her interior style into something that made sense in pixels, while gently pushing back where needed to ensure the site functioned just as well as it looked.
The process was hands-on throughout, from sourcing and switching the illusive domain details to pulling hundreds of images from the old website and updating the Frances Healy Interiors branding to match her new style. Through all of this, there was an open dialogue at every turn. Whether via email or video calls, we were never more than a moment away. With Frances’ busy schedule, video calls and screen sharing were essential to refine the build and explore different design options. Being local helped, we always welcome the opportunity for people to pop into the office, pick up the phone or send us an email for anything. It meant that we could be there when needed, whether that was to talk through colour palettes, image placements or unstick a technical snag.
The site was built using Wix, which allowed us to stay flexible throughout the process and accommodate design changes without spiralling costs. We followed design concepts built in InDesign, working to keep things polished but agile.
Frances said: “Thanks for your kindness and reassurance – it’s always difficult to judge your own work and I appreciate how kind and supportive you have been to me over the last few months. You must take the credit for how good it looks!”
If you’re looking for a web partner who can be as invested as you are, and who doesn’t mind rolling up their sleeves for the small stuff as well as the big picture, we’d love to hear from you.
